Laser Hair Removal: Separating Fact and Fiction

When it comes to laser hair removal, there are many myths and misconceptions. Unfortunately, much of this disinformation about the process can prevent people from choosing to go through with this extremely beneficial procedure. So, today I wanted to explain the process of laser hair removal at Timeless Laser in greater detail, separating some fact from fiction.

The first big rumor about laser hair removal is that it is a permanent procedure – that once you have undergone six treatments, your hair will never grow back. This is simply not true, even while many clinics like to “guarantee” it. Once you have completed a series of laser hair removal treatments, you can expect to shave about once per month. Your hair will be growing in noticeably thinner and more manageable, but eliminating your hair completely, for good, is simply not realistic.

It is also important to note that there are a variety of factors in play that can influence your individual results with laser hair removal. Everything from hormone levels, to stress, to certain medications can influence your hair growth, so there is no “one size fits all” guarantee of how your body will respond compared to other people. What we can tell you is that most of our clients see at least a 50% reduction in hair after just three treatments.

Another concern that many prospective patients share about laser hair removal is that it might be painful. While the procedure is not completely pain-free, I can assure you that it is much less uncomfortable than the razor burn and itching that can be caused by shaving. Our Alma Soprano Ice Laser uses state-of-the-art technology to reduce treatment time and minimize discomfort. The Alma Soprano completes treatment in about half the time it takes most other clinical lasers, and it comes with an ice cold plate built into the face of the laser to ensure as little discomfort as possible. Because of this proprietary cooling plate, there is much less risk for irritation and reaction on the surface of the skin which also means it is safe to treat during the summer months.

When undergoing laser hair removal, you should expect for the process to be ongoing. The average client needs 6-10 sessions to complete treatment, over the course of approximately one year. However, after that time, it is important to know that, for best results, you will want to see us 2-3 times per year for maintenance treatments. This will ensure that you do not lose any of the treatment’s benefits after completing the initial procedure.

So, now that we have cleared up some of the questions you may have about laser hair removal, it’s time for the biggest question of all – how do you know if laser hair removal is right for you?

I might be biased because I own a medical spa, but I cannot sing the praises of laser hair removal enough. With just a few treatments a year, you will be able to free yourself from the discomfort of razor burn and unsightly bumps that come with shaving.

If you currently find yourself shaving frequently and dealing with the unpleasant side effects, I strongly recommend that you come on by for a consultation about laser hair removal. I believe that everyone – men and women alike – can benefit from this procedure, and I hope you’ll consider getting started today!
