Pre & Post Care: Laser Hair Removal
Prior to your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
*Avoid sun exposure, including tanning beds throughout your laser treatment process. This means the entire 4-12 months you are having treatment. It is important for your skin to be its natural color without any sun exposure for optimal results.
*Avoid any artificial tanning such as lotions, sprays and booths for at least 7 days leading up to your appointment.
*Shave the day of or the day before your appointment. If you have spots such as your back that you can’t reach then we will help trim your hair before you’re lasered. Please shave all reachable areas.
*Do not apply heavy lotions or perfumes on skin prior to your appointment.
*Remember, we cannot laser any part of your body that is covered with a tattoo.
*We do not laser pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Following your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
*It is normal to have red/pink irritation to the skin and/or feel like you have a mild sunburn for a few hours following your laser hair removal treatment. If necessary you can apply an ice pack, aloe vera gel, sunburn cream or antibiotic ointment.
*It is important to keep all treated areas moisturized after treatment and wear sun screen immediately following your treatment if you’re going to be in the sun. Any moisturizer without alpha-hydroxy acids will work.
*Following your treatment, as long as there is no epidermal blistering or worsening irritation then it is OK to apply make up on top of the treated areas, work out, enter a hot tub or sauna and go about your regular routine.
*Avoid sun exposure for up to 2 months to reduce the chance of dark or light spots appearing on the surface of the skin. Use sunscreen SPF25 or higher at all times throughout the treatment and for 1-2 months following.
*Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. DO NOT USE any other hair removal methods or products on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments (shaving is OK between treatments), as it will prevent you from achieving your best results and may cause scaring.
*You may shower after your laser treatment and use soap, avoid exfoliating or applying deodorant for 24 hours. Skin should be patted dry and NOT rubbed.
